Colfax Launches Application-Based Web Site to Provide Fluid-Handling Knowledge to Oil & Gas Industry
RICHMOND, VA - March 1, 2010 - Colfax Corporation (NYSE: CFX), a global leader in fluid-handling solutions for critical applications, has launched an application-based, educational Web site with detailed information on the use of fluid-handling technologies tailored specifically for the unique requirements of the oil & gas industry.
The site - named Global Oil & Gas Center of Excellence, at www.colfaxcorp.com/oilandgas - contains articles, case studies, glossaries, photos of installations and fact sheets. Colfax will update it on a regular basis with useful tools and additional applications to continue to enrich its value to the user.
"The application focus is what sets this site apart from others," said Dennis Hanson, vice president of global oil & gas market development for Colfax. "It speaks the language of oil & gas professionals as it addresses the challenges of conveying fluids, which is one of the most common requirements of their work. Our staff has significant experience in the business, and we created the Web site as a way to share our knowledge and answer questions."
Mike Moore, director of global oil & gas marketing for Colfax, is in charge of the Web site and speaks at pump technology meetings across the globe. "People are surprised about the current capabilities of our rotary positive displacement pumps from a flow and pressure standpoint, and the overall efficiencies of our products are a real eye-opener when they see the potential operational cost savings," he said. "We worked hard on the content to make sure we are providing information that describes all the variables that affect fluid transfer. Visitors to the site will learn how customized solutions can meet their specific set of needs."
The site contains sections covering pumping applications in the production, transportation, storage and refining segments of the oil & gas industry. Each section is further divided into subsections with information on how to address fluid-handling challenges in key applications, and their content explores issues industry professionals often contend with, such as contaminants in crude oil, free gas, varying water cuts and temperature alterations necessary for managing process fluid viscosity.
Moore said he encourages visitors to share their feedback about the site. "We want it to be as useful as possible, and if there's a fluid-handling issue people would like to see explored more fully, I encourage them to let us know."
With nearly 20 years of experience in the pump industry, Moore holds leadership positions in professional organizations and writes about pump topics. He is task-force secretary for the American Petroleum Institute's API Standard 676 for rotary positive displacement pumps, is a member of the International Pump Users Symposium advisory committee and contributes articles to trade publications.
